Avant Garde news, interests, and events in the Boston metropolitan area.

OK so it’s been a while since I’ve posted but I’d like to put some more shit up.
THIS is a video by Neptune, a local Boston noise band, who are currently on tour in Europe. They’re fucking amazing, build most of their own instruments, have a pretty interesting flavor to them. I’m posting this, because a week ago they released a new LP, called MSG RCVD on Northern Spy and it’s really great. If you like the video above you should pick it up, it’s one of my favorite releases they’ve put out, and they deserve some more attention for sure.
(also, I can’t even begin to think of how a feedback organ operates, but they use one on this release)

Genesis of Pollution, an original composition
Small audience, beautiful performance venue, and amazing music at Tufts. Met the one and only Ezra Sims, and listened to some moving microtonal pieces. Felt like I was in a dream.
The netlabel Birdsong is perhaps one of the best free labels out there. They release only 3 maybe 4 net releases a year and each is always very good. Here’s their latest release from the Band That Never Was.
For what it is worth, I haven’t listened to this album yet, but based on Birdsong’s track record, this release is a required download.
